Crack JEE MAIN with Two Subjects

 goCareer     11:29     IIT-jee, jee-mains, preparation-tips     No comments

JEE (Joint Entrance examination) MAIN is a common engineering entrance examination for admission in eminent institutions like IITs and NITs including various other reputed engineering colleges. The aspirants seeking admission in IITs need to qualify JEE Advanced which is a very promising undergraduate admission test. But first step is to clear JEE Main. Every year more than 1.2 Million candidates appear for JEE Main and this number will keep increasing which essentially make it more challenging. Therefore one has to prepare well to crack this competitive exam.
JEE Main Question Paper consists of three sections of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Every subject will have 30 questions with equal distribution of marks.
When we start preparing for this exam, this question often comes in mind which subject/subjects one should study more or which can be skipped. But neglecting any one subject totally is very risky. Sometimes students work very hard on those subjects in which they are competent, skipping the subject which does not interest them. But this might be unfavourable in the exam because more often than not the subjects you bring to perfection, might be very difficult and extensive. This situation can lead to panic in the examination. So, for the safe side students should cover the important and easy topics of the third subject too. Further if you very proficient in any two subjects then also you can score somewhere around 65% in the examination. It should be noticed that every section has some simple, moderate and tough questions. Prepare yourself in such a way that you would be able to solve simple and moderate questions of all three subject. This will add up 60 percent or more in your scorecard and ultimately your rank will be upgraded. If you want to focus on any two subjects then here are some tips how to manage the third subject:

Mathematics and Chemistry as prior subjects
Go through with every concepts of chemistry and worked on related problems. Mathematics requires a lot of practice. Give your time and energy to this subject. Now what you have to do with physics is to divide the chapters according to the difficulty level and weightage. Physics questions are based on theory and calculations and a combination of both. Read the theory part thoroughly and practice on related problems. This year Kinematics, measurement and error analysis, Electronic Devices, Electromagnetic Induction, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism had comparatively simple questions than Electrostatics, Electromagnetic waves and modern Physics had tough questions. But your choice may vary so work on the topics of your choice and potential.

Physics and Chemistry as prior subjects
Many students find it very difficult to perform well in Maths as it is not simply or promptly done. You should be very determined and skilful for this subject. So students want to skip it. But remember that it is very significant and rank deciding also. Maths is very mounting-subject but first, you need fundamental understanding in every area. Further, most of the questions in the exam are calculative so practice is very important. Work on the easiest sections. Last year Algebra had the maximum number of questions followed by Calculus and comics.

Physics & Mathematics as prior subjects
Prepare mathematics and Physics very well so that you can solve maximum number of questions.
But you should remember that chemistry is somewhat easier and more scoring amongst these. Chapters like Chemical bonding, Hydrocarbons, p-block elements, purification of organic compounds had easy questions in last year exam. Again questions asked in the examination are mainly based on theory and calculations. Also, the weightage of Physical chemistry was more followed by Organic and Inorganic chemistry. So try to cover some portions of this subject according to your choice.
It is advisable that do not ignore any subject because you cannot predict which one is going to be most scoring! Moreover, if you qualify the exam and go to IIT then also you will need to have a good understanding of all three subjects.

Also, It is always better to TRY and fail than never to TRY at all. So, find out your weak spots and fill the holes with practice and conception.
